TITLE: System Developer.

Duties:

My role at Vroom & Dreesmann was based in an application development team developing technical solutions to meet the needs of business requirements. This was undertaken using COBOL, CICS, DB2, SQL, QMF, JCL in a TSO/ISPF environment. This involved strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with the capacity to show proven interpersonal skills needed to meet the communication requirements across business areas working in a foreign country. While the main technical tasks are carried out on an IBM mainframe environment, communication to users and line managers involves extensive use of various PC tools such as Microsoft Word 7.0, Excel and Access and Lotus Notes.

Duties:

My role at Nike was mainly one of production support, where the need was to respond immediately to issues raised by users as well as analysing, designing, coding and testing enhancements to various finance IT batch systems. The main technical tasks were carried out on an IBM mainframe environment using COBOL, CICS, DB2, SQL, QMF, Panvalet, JCL, Selcopy and all communication to users and line managers involved the use of various PC tools such as Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.

TITLE: Analyst Programmer.

Duties:

During my five years with Marks and Spencer I progressed through three internal moves enhancing both technical and managerial skills. My career developed from coding and testing third generation software solutions for internal business requirements, to developing and testing PC based software solutions for buying departments' requirements, involving extensive communication with Marks and Spencer suppliers. During my final year at Marks and Spencer I was responsible for the managing of a project which was to provide online sales information direct to buying departments PC's to help them calculate stock replenishment figures which were to be sent direct to M&S external suppliers. Responsibility for this project also involved the overall design of presentation events to aid familiarity of new business procedures to both external M&S suppliers and internal departmental staff. This involved a high level of visual aids in both new media and traditional print media and allowed creative use of imagination and representation to convey abstract principles.

Other Technical Experience:

At Marks and Spencer I also gained a good working knowledge of the following PC tools: Microsoft Windows 3.11/ and 95, Word 6.0, Excel, WordPerfect 5.1, and Lotus Freelance.

All my time with Marks and Spencer was spent working in a team environment where it was essential to be able to communicate effectively within a group structure, giving and receiving feedback directly to and from high level management, and sometimes executive, personnel. This also required the ability to work independently and innovatively when dealing with problem solving scenarios.

Courses Attended: Internal Marks and Spencer out-of-bounds management training, presentation skills, time management skills, and numerous technical training programmes.

Duties:

During my time with Dun and Bradstreet I gained my initial skills in information technology. I progressed from data manipulation, to a junior programmer role, conversant with IBM mainframe systems testing and programming. I finally moved to a team responsible for the testing and developing of software directly responsible for meeting external customer requirements of providing confidential financial reports.

1985 - 1986EMPLOYER:

Thorn EMI.

BUSINESS: Manufacturing

TITLE: Import Clerk.

SALARY: £6,500

Duties:

My main duties at Thorn EMI were clerical and administrative with use of customs clearance documentation. I was responsible for the batch clearance of both sea and air freight goods through an internal computer based system involving the communication and liaison with an external computer bureau.
